Moon and Star Dreamcatcher by XylidineGriffin Moon and Star Dreamcatcher by XylidineGriffin
I made this a while back in March I think and just never got around to taking pictures of it. The charms are a moon, a star, Kokopelli, and a bear. Each one's in the center of one of the small hoops. It also has shell chips woven into it which I could never seem to get to face the right way (they are the small brown or white dots in the weaving). The diameter is 14 inches I think (forgot to measure it before I left) it's pretty big.

How did you learn to make dream catchers?

I got a kit or two from hobby lobby and after that I just experimented with designs I came up with.

Thank you! I make them but I mostly keep them. I gave three away because my dad asked that I make them as gifts for specific people.

what did you use for string, and how did you get that tunneling effect on the black weave?

my question is how did you get the two in black (i assume it is two sharing a smaller center hoop?) to "cave in"/create that recessed tunnel? it makes my jaw drop
did you make one side slightly loose with the weave, and then pull it towards the other? what did you use for string? i use embroidery floss, i dont think it would be possible to do it with what i use.
any insight would be unbelievably appreciated.
thanks

You guessed correct on what I did to get the tunnel effect and I use Realeather (by Silver Creek Leather Co.) craft lace from Hobby Lobby: [link]. I'm glad you like it so much and that I could help.

those are great. You're very talented. Althogh I admit I wouldn't know a good from a bad dreamcatcher. Yours looks pro though, so I'll guess it's really good

Thanks for the :+fav: Yeah the 3D ones are tricky. I have another small one with just 2 rings, but I didn't feel like up loading pics of it here because it was from a hobby lobby kit and it's small. If I make a larger 2 ring one not from a kit I will probably show it here because they look really cool.
